Embrace Safety was founded in Sweden in 2016 by Henrik Andershed, professor of criminology and psychology, together with Örebro University. The development of EMBRACE was a response to needs from municipalities in collaboration with the police and housing companies who were frustrated at not being able to work in a structured and knowledge-based way in collaboration without an effective digital tool. EMBRACE became the answer. Today, EMBRACE is the most widely used system for crime prevention and safety promotion work among municipalities and housing companies in Sweden.
Our Visions
Our vision is a society without crime and unsafety. We like the idea of a zero vision, that is, a non-tolerance vision concerning crime and unsafety.
Our vision is therefore also to facilitate crime prevention, safety promotion and security work in Sweden but also in other countries in the world.
We work for our vision by offering a digital tool – EMBRACE – and associated continuous competence support that enables a more effective, systematic and knowledge-based approach in our users’ local crime prevention and safety promotion work.
Our Goals
The organizations that use EMBRACE must, with the help of EMBRACE together with our competence support, be able to continuously demonstrate positive effects of their work. That is, that it leads to fewer crimes, more security, and more safety.
All municipalities in Sweden will use EMBRACE. In a next step, we are expanding to other countries.

We support many users in the best way and personally but in efficient ways. With competent users we reach greater social impact and competent EMBRACE ambassadors in the form of our users who effectively help with dissemination to new users.
We take care of and support and keep all our users over a long period of time.
We develop and improve EMBRACE and our competence support continuously with the help of users’ needs and relevant new knowledge and research.
